Plastic Machined Parts

The Cox promise is delivery of the quantity you need, when you need it, without fail. This pledge is backed by a level of plastics-specific knowledge and experience the average machine shop simply doesn’t possess. We understand the unique characteristics of both high performance and standard utility plastics. Cox engineers and machining professionals know the ideal spindle speeds and feed rates for plastic machining success. They are aided by an in-house tooling department equipped to create the highly accurate tools a plastic machining project demands.

Plastic CNC Machining:

  • PVC
  • Nylon
  • Delrin (Acetal)
  • PTFE
  • UHMW
  • Ultem
  • PEEK
  • And many more custom plastics

Industrial Plastic Machining Characteristics

PVC (Gray Color)
  • Tolerances for a 1/2" Dia. Bar +/-.003 (Ground)
  • Material Cost Factor 0.9
  • Machining Cost Factor 0.8

PVC is a great, low-cost plastic often machined for insulators.

Nylon, Extruded "Natural" or "Black" Color
  • Tolerances for a 1/2" Dia. Bar +.002/-.000 (Ground)
  • Material Cost Factor 1.2
  • Machining Cost Factor .75

Nylon is a good plastic for machining. It is also very versatile as people use machined parts for insulators, bearings, and for short-runs of products that will be converted to injection moldings.

Delrin (Acetal) "Natural" or "Black" Color
  • Tolerances for a 1/2" Dia. Bar +.002/-.000 (Ground)
  • Material Cost Factor 1.5
  • Machining Cost Factor 0.7

Delrin is very similar to nylon, but has better machinability. It is often used for insulators or bearings.
