Cox Manufacturing has landed on another one of San Antonio Business Journal's prestigious lists--this time, for being one of the top 300 businesses that helped shape San Antonio. Recognized alongside other San Antonio greats such as CPS Energy and Valero's Corner Store, Cox Manufacturing's placement may seem surprising; however, Cox has reliably provided products and services across the globe for over 60 years.
In fact, many who have benefitted from Cox Manufacturing's precisely machined parts may not even know it. Cox's origins lie in the production of Datapoint computer core memory bobbins that were used in the first available personal computer. As Datapoint's prominent US supplier of small parts, Cox Manufacturing quickly established a foothold in the industry by machining thousands and thousands of printer and disk drive parts.
Today, Cox Manufacturing produces over a million parts; parts that can be found in products sold at Walmart and Academy or used in numerous automobile models. Cox also produces parts used in airplanes, surgical instruments, medical devices, missiles, truck trailer odometers, tire inflation systems, and even millions of cattle ID tags.
