Cox Mfg in Attendance of Trinity University's Policy Maker Breakfast

VP of Sales Art Raynes attended the annual Policy Maker Breakfast.

Trinity University hosted their annual Policy Maker Breakfast Series on October 2nd. Attendees included University affiliates, students, and representatives of the local business community, such as Cox Manufacturing Vice President of Sales and Business Development Art Raynes.

Featured speaker was Mr. Steve Forbes, American publishing executive (Forbes magazine and Business Today magazine) political commentator, economist, and former Presidential candidate.

In his address, Mr. Forbes encouraged entrepreneurs and businesspeople to reaffirm the merits of free markets and free enterprise. He called to memory the writings of Adam Smith, asserting that a robust free enterprise system, lower regulation and lower taxation enable more stable economic conditions, and would reduce the uncertainties that currently complicate business performance and everyday living. He remarked that there are demerits and concerns with all the Presidential candidates, and some policy leanings and media coverage of current events may be discouraging or starkly distressing to the audience. But he remains an optimist who is buoyed by the many achievements of entrepreneurs who harness technology,  and successfully develop new and better products, systems and jobs.  The American economy is vastly improved over past eras, and could be doing even better if restrictive policies were cast aside, and certain better policies creatively applied.
