Striking Out Hunger with SAMA and the San Antonio Food Bank

Cox Manufacturing began to raise funds and collect donations for the San Antonio Food Bank.

The San Antonio Manufacturers Association ("SAMA") began the annual bowling tournament to promote teambuilding within member companies and to provide a fun day of entertainment for the entire family.  It’s now developed into not only an event for fun, but more importantly, a fundraiser for the San Antonio Food Bank and a way for SAMA to give back to the community.

The San Antonio Food Bank ("SAFB") provides food and grocery products to more than 530 partner agencies in 16 counties throughout Southwest Texas. In FY 2015, the San Antonio Food Bank provided nearly 62 million pounds of food. The mission of the SAFB is to fight hunger in Southwest Texas through food distribution, programs, education, and advocacy.

Every $1 donated enables the SA Food Bank to provide 7 meals for families and individuals in need. In 2015, SAMA members, including Cox Manufacturing, raised over 42,000lbs. of food. Cox Manufacturing has already started collecting donations of money and food items for the SAFB and will be participating in the 14th Annual SAMA FunBowl Bowling Tournament on Saturday, November 10th. Cox has participated in and won first place at the FunBowl Tournament every year since 2011.
