Machinist Apprentice

Cox Manufacturing is seeking individuals ready for a high-skilled, in-demand career. Cox Apprentices enjoy working with their hands, and enjoy learning to solve new problems EVERY day. As an apprentice, you will learn how to create precision parts that go into complex products such as medical equipment, electronics, firearms, and more.

The Cox Apprenticeship is not an unpaid internship. While you are learning, you are earning full-time pay and benefits. The more problems you learn how to solve, the more you will progress within our state-of-the-art, advanced manufacturing facility.


  • Operate and setup production machines
  • Inspect parts for conformance
  • Work as a team to run production and solve issues

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or GED (or GED equivalent)
  • Must be able to work 1st shift, and at least one of the off shifts (2nd / 3rd)
  • Note: prior experience is not required

Pay Progression

  • Year 1 (no experience): $16.00/hr minimum
  • Year 2: $18.00/hr minimum
  • Year 3: $19.00/hr minimum
  • Apprentice Graduate $22.00/hr +


  • Extra $1.00/hr for learning specific machinery
  • Extra $1.50 - $2.00/hr for working an off shift


  • 1st shift is 7 am - 4 pm
  • 2nd shift is 3:00 pm - 11:30 pm (off shift)
  • 3rd shift is 11:00 pm - 7:30 am (off shift)

Note: New apprentices start initial training on 1st shift  (7 am - 4 pm)

Material Handler

Cox Manufacturing is seeking a Material Handler to assist in maintaining the material system in a timely manner to support production staff.


  • Monday – Friday
  • 1st shift 7:00am - 4:00pm / 2nd shift 3:00pm - 11:30pm
  • Saturday (when necessary)


  • Maintaining the material system
  • Receive, inspect, tag, color code, store, and move material properly to ensure that material is at the machine in a timely manner and does not cause damage to the material or machine
  • Load and unload trucks and trailers
  • Process scrap materials
  • Operate and maintain belt sander
  • Operate and maintain circular/chop saw
  • Operating a forklift, recharging forklift
  • Maintaining a clean work environment

Minimum Requirements:

  • Stable work history
  • Basic computer skills
  • Able to work individually and in a team setting
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Pass: math test (6th grade equivalent), vision test, drug test, and background check


  • $17.00/hr.

Shop Laborer

The Shop Laborer position is responsible for performing a variety of task in our shops and outside the buildings that involve physical labor.


  • Monday – Friday
  • 1st shift 7:00am - 4:00pm / Available to work 2nd shift 3:00pm - 11:30pm, as workload demands or  as needed
  • Saturday (when necessary)


  • Clean up worksites from various debris and material
  • Follow instructions from supervisors to perform manual labor tasks 
  • Assist welders, contractors or other tradespeople on-site, and maintenance personnel
  • Handle and transport materials (e.g. scrap shavings) and equipment (e.g. drills and grinders)
  • Use power tools and machinery (e.g. forklifts), as needed or requested
  • Put up warning signs (e.g., cones) for vehicles and passersby
  • Help with setting up and transferring machines and equipment
  • Report issues with equipment or unsafe conditions


  • Continuous walking, standing, bending, pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting throughout the scheduled shift
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs or more on a consistent basis - lifting includes boxes with parts, shipping materials, moving boxes to carts for loading and unloading
  • Ability to work independently and within a team 
  • High school diploma (or GED equivalent)

  • Analyzes IT infrastructure and systems performance to assess operating costs, productivity levels, upgrade requirements, and other metrics and needs 
  • Establishes efficiency and efficacy standards, providing recommendations for improvement of IT infrastructure 
  • Schedules, organizes, and assigns projects to members of the IT team 
  • Develops and implements business continuity protocols to minimize disruption to business operations in the event of emergency situations or data loss
  • Work alongside management team to uncover pain points and provide creative, timely, and cost-effective IT solutions    
  • Learns the business philosophy to inform development direction and infrastructure requirements

Here is what we would like you to bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology/Information Systems, Computer Science, or related degree 
  • At least 10 years of experience in complex business and technology environments with at least 5 years in a leadership role. 
  • Strong experience in project management, specifically in software development 
  • Experience with software and data architecture 
  • Proven ability and track record of successfully managing and developing talent 
  • Strong problem solver with an innovative approach  
  • Experience implementing ERP systems  
  • Experience in working with multiple, cross-functional managers and stakeholders; influencing resolution of conflicting objectives 
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; more specifically, a proven ability to effectively present complex solutions to technical and non-technical audiences in each level of an organization 
  • Current on leading edge technology for IT systems and Cybersecurity with the ability to make appropriate recommendations for an organization 
  • Experience working with cloud-based solutions a plus  
  • Experience with data visualization, analytic tools, reporting and dashboarding, cloud-based data platforms a plus


7 am to 4 pm, Monday through Friday with the expectation of some overtime as needed or appropriate

Experienced Machinist

Cox Manufacturing has openings for experienced CNC setup/operators. We are seeking machinists who are results-driven, independent and assertive. There are immediate openings for the right candidates.


  • Setup of CNC machinery to produce precision parts
  • Troubleshoot CNC machine processes
  • Perform routine operational checks and repair work on functional parts of mechanical equipment and machinery
  • Install and monitor machine tooling
