41L40 Steel Machining

Steel 41L40 Machined Parts

Cox Manufacturing has a reputation for machining quality parts from 41L40 Steel. We can machine intricate parts on our CNC Swiss machines and CNC turning centers.

Steel alloy 41L40 cold roll is a free-machining alloy (FMA), ideal for parts that require high wear resistance and toughness. The addition of lead makes it easy to machine, but results in lower impact strength than other steel alloys. 41L40 has good strength and ductility, and resists stress and creep at prolonged high temperatures.

41L40 has a machining cost factor of 2.8 when compared to steel 12L14. It is not ideal to weld due to its lead content. 41L40 can be heat treated, plated, forged, and annealed.
